Model 601 was first imagined for Dachis Group’s award-winning headquarters in Austin, Tx, designed by m|monroe design. At the time, the client had the radical idea to give the entire workforce laptops so they could be truly mobile. This meant that their electrical needs were significantly less and so the furniture they as at could be significantly lighter physically and aesthetically. Model 601’s legs were made out of a custom c-shaped aluminum extrusion which, when ganged together, became the cable routing.
